Budapest Festival Orchestra

Among the performances of the Filharmonia season are the Budapest Festival Orchestra.

In the 2024-2025 season, the Balaton Theatre and Filharmonia Hungary will once again offer four great concerts for the musical audience in Keszthely. The Budapest Festival Orchestra, Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra, Saint Stephen Philharmonics and Purcell Choir and Jazzation Acappella Vocal Group will be among the exceptional performers.

This concert features three works written when the composers were at the peak of their careers. Joseph Haydn became world-famous by composing formally only for the Esterházy court, and his works were performed primarily there.

Mozart left a total of three completed horn concertos, the last of which, No. 495, was written in 1786, the year he wrote The Marriage of Figaro.Mozart dedicated his horn concertos to Joseph Leutgeb, who, although 24 years his senior, was a very close friend. Mozart wrote many personal notes in the score, and even wrote this work in coloured ink.

Although Mozart was still working at an incredible pace two years later, his success was still a mixed blessing in his life. In the summer of 1788, he wrote three symphonies in the hope of performing them at a composer’s evening. The performances were always cancelled, and Mozart was unable to perform the symphonies he had written at the time.
