Bird ringing in Fenékpuszta

The Bird Ringing Station has been operating since 1985, as a station of the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Association. Since 1987, birds have been caught and ringed every summer, and since autumn 2005, continuously throughout the year. At the station, you can follow the whole ringing process, from the capture of the birds, through the condition assessment, to the moment of release. The station is run entirely by volunteers.

The station welcomes groups by appointment from 13 July to October.

View of Lake Balaton

In 2019, a six-metre high lookout tower was opened near the station, offering a beautiful panorama of Lake Balaton. The lookout, built on the site of the previous structure, is also a great help for birdwatchers.
