An interesting fact#amazon-haz-latogatokozpontOn the wall of the Amazon House is a plaque indicates that in 1798 the Hungarian poet Mihály Vitéz Csokonai stayed here, and István Simon commemorated the occasion in his poem "Csokonai in the Inn" with these words:
"I imagine that Vitéz was also here,
I golden letters kake me remember.
The ceiling, the beam, even the lime,
And the pipe, as he saw it, still smokes."
Our favorite#georgikon-majormuzeumOne of the most exciting exhibits of the museum is the original, still functioning Fowler steam engine, which is usually started up on special occasions and engine meetings.
An interesting fact#nepviseletes-babamuzeumThe museum launched a competition with the help of the children's magazine Napsugár from Cluj, in which they asked schoolchildren and their parents to send in the traditional clothing of their locality. Some opinions say that this happened at the last minute, as folk traditions are beginning to fade in Transylvania. Similarly, traditional clothing arrived from Upper Hungary, Southern Hungary, and Transcarpathia.
An interesting fact#keszthelyi-gasztronomiaKeszthely is closely connected to the world-famous Spicy of Cserszeg and its creator, Dr. Károly Bakonyi, whose whole life was determined by his love for grapes. The Spicy of Cserszeg wine was created in 1960 by crossing the grape Irsai Oliver and the pink Tramini grape varieties - in England it was even chosen as the year's best white wine among 7400 varieties - but in addition to this, 15 state-recognized varieties are linked to the work of grape breeding by Dr. Károly Bakonyi. For 47 years he shared his knowledge at the university of Keszthely.
An interesting fact#festetics-kastely-palmahaz-es-madarparkThe structural elements of the Palm House were made in the factories of Gustave Eiffel in Paris. Its excellent quality is evidenced by the fact that the main supporting elements, twisted columns, have not yet been replaced. Eiffel is associated with the tower named after him, or the conception and design of the Statue of Liberty in New York, but his company also designed the plans for the main building of the Western Railway Station in Hungary.
