Keszthely Carnival

Keszthely’s winter carnival, the Keszthely Town Carnival, will take place for the 24th time.

The event will feature carnival goers dressed up in their usual cheerful and colourful costumes for the town and its surroundings. The parade will start from the Festetics Palace Park at 2 pm and will then march along the Promenade to the Main Square.

The masqueraders will gather at the main gate of the Festetics Palace from 1.30 pm, where they will set off at 2 pm, led by the princely couple. Passing by the Goldmark Cultural Centre, they will stop in front of the jury to have their costumes inspected and then, on arrival at the Main Square, they will perform a short show on stage. The event will also feature the regulars of the Keszthely Carnival, such as the giant dragon and the centipede, as well as stilt walkers, and the Boombatucada drum band.

Over the years, the town carnival has become a traditional event, attended not only by local residents but also by costumed visitors from further afield. The parade is rich in creativity and humour, with the jury judging the inventiveness of the costumes and the enthusiasm of the participants.
