The Vitorlás Bistro Keszthely is rethinking what we have believed about Balaton waterfront hospitality: quality beachside dishes at affordable prices and fantastic views all in one place!
Colorful and cheerful chairs, a cozy and shady terrace welcome guests, where they can relax and enjoy the beautiful view of Szigetfürdő and the Balaton.
Classic snacks, delicious specialties, and refreshing raspberry cream soup.
If we just want a bite, we can order homemade fries or onion rings with dip.
The main dishes won’t fill us up in the summer heat, they are light and delicious, like a summer vegetable and with handmade cheese from Nemesbük enriched bulgur salad, but if someone wants something more substantial, they can choose BBQ pork with homemade potatoes and American coleslaw.
They also offer children’s menus and divine desserts.
The Szigetfürdő Curiosity
The first water-built bathhouse was built in 1864. The first round bath island was built in the 1880s, which was expanded into a two-island bath with a decorative entrance in 1893. The Festetics family also contributed to the maintenance of the bath and the park. Its original building was demolished in the 1960s instead of renovation, and a metal and concrete island bath was built in its place. In the second half of the 2000s, the 19th century look of the Szigetfürdő was restored in several stages at this site. Although the building looks authentic from the outside, it fully meets modern requirements inside. In 2017, the two towers were completely rebuilt and the building also received new decorative lighting.
Thoughtfulness and Local Values
At the bistro’s shopping, they prefer local suppliers and producers, and when cooking they also take care of the health of the guests. They use Parajdi salt and fresh herbs, and no artificial ingredients at all. Their dishes are prepared freshly, with emphasis on quality.
Let’s Drink!
If we have already eaten well, but we would still like to take a dip, there is nothing else to do but sit back and choose something from the homemade syrups, wine cocktails or quality coffee preparations.
The wines are sourced from the Vonyarcvashegyi Papp Winery, which is also a guarantee of quality.
Parking
There are parking spaces along the Balaton shoreline, behind the Balaton Hotel, at the back entrance of the City Beach. But the closest to the beach entrance is the parking lot behind the Pavilion row, turning left at the city sports field.
Approach
From Helikon Park, either on foot or by car, after parking, passing through the Pavilion row, leaving the City Beach ticket office, we arrive at the Sailing Bistro.
