Among the performances of the Filharmonia season are the Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra.

In the 2024-2025 season, the Balaton Theatre and Filharmonia Hungary will once again offer four great concerts for the musical audience in Keszthely. The Budapest Festival Orchestra, Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra, Saint Stephen Philharmonics and Purcell Choir and Jazzation Acappella Vocal Group will be among the exceptional performers.

From Haydn to Bach

This concert will be the first to feature Haydn, the young man who in this work is describing the first notes of a genre that he will later make great.

The Sinfonia Concertante in E flat major, on the contrary, is so famous that most people immediately think of it as “A” Mozart Sinfonia Concertante, even though Mozart wrote several works of this title, as did others, such as Haydn. There is a reason why people love this piece, it is at once a concerto, a serenade and chamber music of the highest order, with instrumentalists constantly throwing the ball around, making it impossible to get bored.

After the intermission, a whole different world awaits the audience. Bartók and folk music. The Kolindas are originally Romanian folk Christmas carols, which Bartók arranged for piano. Allegro barbaro was also written for piano, its ‘barbarism’ incorporating a variety of folk virtuosity and its bold use of instruments in a very different way from the refined elegance of the Viennese Classical world. It closes with music by the Englishman Benjamin Britten, written on a theme borrowed from a former teacher. Here, however, the variations are not primarily for the theme, but for the man.
