Programs and Services for Cyclists

Cycle in Keszthely!

Through Keszthely passes  an international bike route, as well as the Balaton Bike Ring, so if we go around the Hungarian Sea, we inevitably pass through the city. If we don’t go around Balaton, but just spend some days here in the city, it is worth bringing a bike with us or renting one. On the one hand, if we spend only a few days here and want to visit as many sights as possible, we can save time if we go by bike instead of walking, and it is more environmentally friendly than travelling by car. On the other hand, a little exercise will come in handy after the Balaton-side lángos and ice cream.

Cycling on the Balaton Bike Path

Let’s see where we can start on two wheels! We can start in both directions along the shore, safely cycling on the Balaton Bike Path. To the east, the neighboring towns follow one another, if we have time and energy, it is worth cycling to the Szent Mihály chapel in Vonyarcvashegy, and then to the Szépkilátó in Balatongyörök, where we can have a wonderful panorama.

Tipp ha Fenékpuszta felé biciklizel, nézd meg az ókori Valcum romjaitHintIt's also worth going in the opposite direction, as the ruins of the former Roman fort Valcum can be found near the city at Fenékpuszta. It's worth visiting for a little time travel to the past!

Cycling between two lakes

Don’t forget, we can cycle not only along the Balaton, but also the neighbouring Hévíz can be reached by bike path. Tip: In the Hello Keszthely application we can also find a challenge, which takes us from Keszthely inscription to the Hévíz spa and back, and in return for cycling we get points. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

The Festetics Route

We heartily recommend the route marked A, which starts from the Castle, takes you through the Festetics Imre Animal Park to Nagymező in Gyenesdiás, then along the shore to the Keszthely sign at the Libási rest stop, and back to the castle. The tour is 15 km long and is recommended for beginners and children. There are also 3 more routes marked B, C, and D available here.

Discover Keszthely and its surroundings on two wheels!

Keszthely is not so small, this is made clear to us by our feet when we cycle “only” within the city. In the application we find a route that starts from the Main Square, so it includes downtown, Balaton-shore, we have to cross the wild Fenyves-allé, take us to the animal park, and then, touching the shore, bring us back to the Main Square.

A popular cycling route in our vicinity is the Small-Balaton circuit. For those who are even braver and like challenges, we recommend the cycling routes of the Keszthely-Montains.
